robotics funding just doubled in a year. I've seen this film
by Emma ThompsonCrunchbase has robotics startups raising about $9.9bn in Q3, more than double the same quarter last year. Same week, Agility said its SPAC deal should now bring in around $465m, roughly $155m less than it expected. Both can be true. Money is flooding in at the top while individual deals come in under the number on the slide. Climate tech did exactly this twice. The capital showed up years before the dull stuff did: installers, insurers, standards, people who could fix kit on a Tuesday. Most of the 2008 money died waiting for that. What survived was useful, and cheaper for everyone who came after. So for robots, what's the dull middle that has to exist before any of this pays back? Rhys's thread says spares and charging. I'd add insurance. What else?
